"Boot camp makes working out fun again, even at 6 am. Mark’s classes are always different and always push me to do more and go further than I thought I could. Who knew you could do so many exercises using a park bench?"

What's a daily workout session like?
Each session is unique to continually challenge your body and keep your interest and curiosity levels high in anticipation of the next workout. Warm-ups usually consist of calisthenics and total body flexibility exercises to prepare your system for the upcoming session. Each session will culminate with exercises to cool the body down. The workouts will include exercises to build endurance, strength, coordination and flexibility. In addition, you will enjoy the combination of personal attention and social interaction that the classes offer.

Are you going to yell at me?
I will only yell motivating, positive affirmations, uplifting quotes, and convince, not confront. I aim to keep you focused on the task at hand. Abuse, harassment - I don't go there, even if you want me to. If you want verbal abuse, join the military! For positive reinforcement, however, come and enjoy the camaraderie of a group workout at Boot Camp.

What if there is rain or bad weather?
It's called Boot Camp for a reason. I will be there for class in any conditions should you chose to attend. It is your choice NOT to attend if you feel it is too hot, wet, windy, cold, etc. Currently there is no indoor location to conduct classes during inclement weather.

Who can/should attend?
Boot Camp is designed for all fitness levels so you don't have to be fit to start. After I meet with you I usually will make recommendations for you for classes. If you are recovering from an injury or have a special medical condition please contact your doctor and get approval before engaging in a new exercise regimen.

What if I can't perform a certain exercise?
In all classes you should work at your own fitness level to avoid injury. All exercises will be taught and performed with progression. For example, I may give you modified, low-impact exercises to strengthen your body until you are able to advance to more challenging exercises. I will also have designated breaks but if you feel the need to rest or drink water I encourage you to do so.

Where do we meet you for each class?
For the downtown classes I meet individuals by the benches that surround the fountain at Pier A. For the uptown classes I will meet individuals by the kids playground on the Maxwell Place Pier. If someone is having trouble finding me just look for the guy setting up cones, bands and other gadgets on the pier.
You find out more about the different locations here

What do I do with my personal belongings during class?
Most classes stay on the pier so that if you bring bags, purses or other personal belongings you can keep an eye on them. On occasion I have mobile classes that move around different parts of Hoboken. If this is the case I will post it on the website so you are aware in advance and/or bring a vehicle to lock your belongings in during class.

Do I have to sign up or commit to the classes I want to attend?
At the moment there is no sign up or commitment for the classes you wish to attend. You are free to show up the day of class as long as you pay prior to the start of class or you are trying the class for free for the first time.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Currently I accept cash or check. Checks should be made out to "Mark Doering". At the moment I do not accept major credit cards.
